In Hindi, the word ‘khamir’ means ‘to ferment,’ whereas it means ‘intrinsic pride’ in Kachchhi, the local language – an apt name to describe the fermentation of ideas and activity of an organization that promotes the rich artisanal traditions of Kachchh district. Set off on an excursion to Khamir, to get a glimpse into Kachchh heritage, art, music, and culture, as we showcase a wide range of techniques like Ajrakh blockprinting, tie-and-dye printing, camel-wool weaving, leather art, pottery, silversmithy, wood carving, among others.
