Shimla

A town of boarding schools, bakeries & British buildings

Shimla, once a small town of temples and palaces was declared a summer capital of the British colonialists, who built Kalka-Shimla railway line (today, on UNESCO’s Heritage Mountain Railways of India list) and left numerous boarding schools, colleges, research institutes in their wake. Soon after, the town achieved a reputation as a tourist hillstation with favourable climate, beautiful handicrafts and panoramic views of pine-covered slopes and river valleys, and today, the settlement has expanded and spills over the mountaintop.
