Excursion to Kalinjar Fort
Learn the lore of a fort dedicated to the 'destroyer of Time'
Unusual among forts, Kalinjar fort is a 10th Century hill-shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva that was the stage for various historical events. An excursion to the Kalinjar fort would help you turn the pages of the past and offers a chance to hear interesting anecdotes about why the fort was named ‘the destroyer of Time’ and why its temple is named ‘Neelkanth’. Learn of its construction by the Bargujar tribe and the numerous deities enshrined within its walls, the reigns of the Chandela dynasty and the Mughal empires, among others, and the numerous attempts to annexe the fort to gain strategic military control.
