Discover the wild beauty of the Himalayan foothills
Uttarakhand is where legends breathe through mountains, rivers, and temples. Cradled in the lap of the Himalayas, its valleys echo with chants and birdsong, its forests shelter both mystics and wildlife. Programme Details
New Delhi
Day: 1-2
Arrival at Delhi
Begin your exploration of Delhi with a drive past the grand avenues of Lutyens’ Delhi, including India Gate, the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, and other colonial landmarks. Visit the serene Bangla Sahib Gurudwara with its shimmering golden dome, holy waters, and community kitchen where visitors may share in a Langar meal. Continue to Old Delhi, navigating its bustling lanes on foot and by cycle rickshaw, discovering spice markets, food streets, and wedding bazaars that reveal the city’s vibrant heart. Conclude at sunset with Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose elegant Mughal design later inspired the Taj Mahal.
Recommended Accommodations
The Imperial
Luxury Boutique
The Imperial hotel offers the best in luxury as well as comfort with its regal interiors, as elaborate as the backdrop of The Great Gatsby, and an impeccably trained staff. The hotel offers rooms in varying sizes and cost, yet the promised comfort and amenities are in no way compromised upon. The hotel houses museum-worthy artefacts as well as an art gallery among its many corridors. The in-house restaurants are brimming with elegance and reflect the hotel’s art-deco ambience. However, it is The Spice Route, which is its major attraction; an intricately designed restaurant that features exquisite carvings.
Nainital
Day: 3-4
Transfer to Delhi airport for your flight to Pantnagar. On arrival, drive about 2½ hours to Nainital and check into your boutique homestay. Spend the afternoon at leisure - either relaxing in the serene setting or strolling the property with your host. Away from the bustle of town, you’ll discover the quieter side of Nainital, with nearby villages like Pangot and Gaggar offering forest walks, birdlife, and mountain views. Your host, a former journalist, filmmaker, and author, welcomes you into Abbotsford, her lovingly restored 145-year-old ancestral home, now a charming heritage retreat.
This morning, enjoy a scenic hike through lush forests up to Naina Peak, where tea or coffee awaits along with sweeping views of the valley and snow-capped Himalayas. Return to your hotel for breakfast and leisure time before an afternoon guided walk through heritage buildings and churches, including Gurney House, once home to the famed hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett. In the evening, gather by the bonfire for engaging conversations with your host.
Jwalabanj
Day: 5-6
At 7,200 feet, the village of Jwalabanj sits surrounded by rhododendron and oak forests, with sweeping Himalayan views across a tranquil valley. Check into your charming homestay, where old-world character meets modern comfort. In the afternoon, walk up to Burans Hill for sundowners with a golden sunset over the peaks, before gathering around the bonfire for dinner.
Begin the morning by joining your host as she tends to the farm and cattle, a simple yet grounding glimpse of village life. After breakfast, drive to a hilltop temple and set off on a scenic 3 km downhill hike through forest trails to Jageshwar, pausing at a small shrine before reaching the ancient temple complex of 125 shrines dating back to the 8th–13th centuries. Explore the temples and museum before returning to your homestay, or opt instead for a gentle hike to the peaceful Mirtola Ashram. In the evening, share time in the kitchen with your host, learning to make flatbreads on a woodfire or chutney with a stone mortar, before dinner.
Binsar
Day: 7-8
Drive about 40 minutes to Dhaulchina, the gateway to Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, and begin an 8 km hike through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests with a picnic lunch en route. On arrival, check into Nine Furlongs, a heritage lodge built in the mid-1800s by British Commissioner Sir Henry Ramsay. Its restored bungalows, nestled among clouds and trees, carry a timeless charm and invite quiet reflection. Spend the evening at leisure, soaking in the serene surroundings.
This morning, enjoy a guided birding walk in Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, home to over 200 species drawn to its oak, rhododendron, and cedar forests, followed by a picnic breakfast in the wild. In the afternoon, take a gentle hike to Zero Point, the sanctuary’s highest peak, where on clear days the Himalayan range stretches before you. End the day with high tea against the sunset, then gather by the fire at your cottage before dinner.
Corbett
Day: 9-11
On the way to Corbett National Park, stop at Kaladhungi to visit the Corbett Museum, housed in Jim Corbett’s former winter bungalow and showcasing his personal belongings and legacy as a hunter-turned-conservationist. Continue onward to the park and check into your wildlife lodge, where the evening is free to relax and soak in the serene setting. Overnight stay at the Jims Jungle Retreat.
Jim Corbett National Park, with its lush grasslands, rivers, and forests spread over 540 sq. km, is home to over 650 rare species of flora and fauna, making it a true haven for wildlife lovers. Over the next two days, enjoy exclusive jeep safaris—one at dawn and another in the afternoon—exploring the park’s wilderness. You may also choose to cycle through plantation forests to nearby villages, learning about the Gujjar community and even sharing a simple home-cooked meal with the locals.
New Delhi
Day: 12
Departure from Delhi. As your journey with us comes to an end, carry with you the echoes of temples, forests, and mountains - memories that linger long after the road has faded.
