Palampur
North India's tea capital
The valley where the town of Palampur is located, is riddled with numerous streams that irrigate numerous tea plantations and rice paddies – and perhaps explains why it is known as the tea capital of north India. The mosaic of lush plantations and pine forests stretch away towards a horizon of snow-capped peaks – the indomitable Dhauladhar mountain range, is the main attraction for the increasing tourism in the state. Palampur offers offbeat treks and some adventure sports, with panoramic views of mountains and plains.
