Thimphu
Bhutan's capital at the crossroad of time
Once a handful of hamlets, Thimphu, is today the capital of Bhutan and also its largest city and economic centre. Exuding a sense of history, from its colourful religious iconography and as a political nexus, Thimphu reflects Bhutan’s culture at the crossroads between tradition and modernity. The city is most alive during its Tsechu monastery dance festival with masks and music, during the months of September and October.
