The tea plantation carpeted gateway to north-east India
Located in the state of Assam, Dibrugarh is a bustling, industrial city that serves as a gateway to the other north-eastern states of India, as also to the region’s major tea producing districts, earning it the epithet ‘tea city of India’. The timber from ancient forests and the recent oil and natural gas explorations in and around Dibrugarh have fuelled the industrial expansion of the city, and with its transport and communication lines connecting to the rest of the country, Dibrugarh is set to be a crucial hub for north-eastern development.
