Taj Lake Palace
A gem at the centre of Lake Pichola
This hotel is a dream of white marble and mosaic that burns bright in the day and glistens in the moonlight, offering a striking 360 degree panoramic view of the majestic Aravali Hills on one side and the lofty palaces on the other. Over the years the royal mystique of the palace has been maintained in the elaborately carved wood furniture, richly colored murals and lavish silks that decorate the interiors. It was built in 1754 in the middle of Lake Pichola spread over a 4-acre site complete with ponds for courtesans to frolic in.
