Ayisha Manzil
This 140-year-old colonial style house lies along the Malabar Coast and is situated on a hillock overlooking the Arabian Sea. The six large bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms are furnished like the house with a mix of family antiques, local knick knacks and rare clocks and musical instruments. It provides a captivating mix of west, east and house peculiarities bearing an aura of the past. During their stay guests can play or relax along the beach or venture into the city and surrounding areas to visit an English Fort constructed in 1905 or one of the many ancient temples.
A signature experience at Ayisha Manzil, is the Moppilah cuisine. Mrs Faiza Moosa, the lady of the house is an expert on this unusual style of cooking and has been invited to conduct several culinary festivals particularly by ITC at their hotels. Let your palate explore some of Thalassery’s fiery delights, seasoned with the local favourite, Thalassery peppercorns – one the world’s first, finest and largest of the annual harvests each year. Thalassery is also known as the ‘mussel capital of the world’ and the seafood aficionados can gorge on this delicacy to their heart’s content.
Ayisha Manzil also offers easy access to the Kalaripayattu school – where one can watch the oldest martial art form in India.
