This program through Kumaon and Garhwal Himalayas brings together the cultural richness of the Himalayan foothills – Corbett, India’s first Tiger Reserve and Rishikesh, the country’s spiritual capital. Woven into this program are village walks that introduce you to the cultural and natural richness of the region. Stays in restored well-appointed village homes gives you a ring side view of life among simple hill folk while ancient temples, old flour mills, terraced fields, Himalayan views are some vignettes to look out for while walking these hills.

Upon arrival at Delhi International Airport T-3, you will be met by a Travel Scope representative and transferred to your accommodations and assist with Check-In.

This morning will be at your leisure to rest after your long journey. Commence your day with a drive through Lutyen’s Delhi with photo stops at India Gate and the muted red sandstone Parliament Buildings. Visit the Gandhi Smriti a photo exhibit on the life of the Great Mahatma Gandhi. End the day with a visit to the restored Humayun’s Tomb.


Shopping options include a visit to Khan Market, Santushti Complex or Dilli Haat. Specific shopping options can be made available on request. Travel Scope also makes available a list of options for dining out and assists travellers with reservations at a restaurant of their choice.

Spend the morning exploring the old city. Commence your day with a visit to the 17th century Jama Masjid, ride a rickshaw through the narrow lanes of the old city, and walk through the spice markets. Continue to the Bangla Saheb Gurudwara and witness the community kitchen where thousands of worshippers are fed round the clock.


The remainder of the day will be at your leisure.

Rise early this morning and transfer to Anand Vihar Railway Station for your train to Kathgodam. Upon arrival a car and driver will be waiting to drive you to Fredy’s Bungalow in Bhimtal. This part of the Kumaon Lake Region, home to a large variety of flora, fauna and aquatic life, has always attracted bird-watchers, butterfly-collectors and nature lovers as well as writers in search of solitude and city-dwellers seeking to renew their spirits.


Walk along the steep mountain trail adjacent to the bungalow, which leads to ‘the Ridge’ with its breath-taking view of the Sattal Lakes below and Nainital in the distance or take the leveled walking path along the property. Take a boat ride on the waters or go on a birding walk around the lake.


Return to Fredy’s and spend the remainder of your day at leisure.

After breakfast this morning commence your drive to Itmenaan Estate. Check-in to your accommodations on arrival. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure.




·      Birding and photography walks with a naturalist

·      Take a walk through the nearby village and interact with the locals

·      Trek to the highest point for enchanting views

·      Walk through the oak and rhododendron forests


Overnight at Itmenaan Estate.

Wake up to a leisurely breakfast and take a walk to the nearby villages to share tea with locals. Return back to Itmenaan Estate for lunch. Post lunch drive to Thikalna village house through the beautiful winding route.


Thikalna village house is around a 45 min walk from the point where you will be dropped. The village path that leads to Thikalna is lined with Oak and Rhododendron trees and has stunning views of snow-capped Himalayas throughout the walk. This house at an altitude of 2250 meters is located at the edge of a cliff and gives one a sense of being cut off from the outside world. The house does not have electricity enabling it be one with its surroundings. Solar lamps are provided for the comfort of guests.


You will reach the house in time for evening drinks/ tea, coffee and snacks. Witness some breath-taking view over sunset at Thikalna village house.

After a leisurely breakfast, walk along the ridge towards Bridh Jageshwar temple complex.

The next stretch of walk will take an hour where you walk through a mix of rhododendron and pine forests, occasional uphill and downhill stretches before you finally climb down to the ridge of Naini.

You continue walking to the Temple of Jageshwar for another hour. Nearing Jageshwar in a valley you will notice the pine forest now change to thick Deodar (Cedar).


After visiting the temple complex, you will be served a picnic lunch nearby. Then your uphill walk to the village of Gurdabaj will begin. This walk will take around an hour and take you through some of the oldest Deodar forests in the entire region. The end of the walk will bring you to the village of Ganget.

The evening may be spent at leisure by a bonfire.

Start your day with a walk downhill to the temple of Jhankarsem. The temple is one of the most famous temples of the region dedicated to deity Siam. Many families consider Siam to be their reigning deity and hence the popularity of the temple.


From the temple you will walk downhill towards the valley of Dudum. This two-hour walk will take you through multiple villages in the area and will provide an excellent opportunity to interact with the locals. The scenery along the walk consists of terraced fields, old Kumaoni houses and small village temples.


You will be served a picnic lunch when you reach the bottom of the valley. From here a two-hour uphill trek will bring you to Itmenaan Estate. The night will be spent in the relative luxury of Itmenaan Estate where the resident chef will pamper you with his signature dishes.

After breakfast this morning, commence your five-hour journey to Marchula via the picturesque town of Ranikhet. Upon arrival, check-in to your accommodations and spend the remainder of your day at leisure.

Early this morning you will head into the Corbett National Park for a Jeep Safari.


CORBETT National Park is the first to be commissioned as a protected reserve under “Project Tiger”. Named after Jim Corbett – the famous hunter and keen conservationist, the jungles of Corbett lie in the foothills of the Himalayas, and are famous for the population of Elephants, Tigers and leopards, among a wide variety of trees, birds and other animal species. It is thus famous as the land of ‘trumpet, roar and song’, truly a delight for every nature lover.


Return to your camp for a late breakfast and spend the remainder of your day at leisure.

In the late afternoon you may choose to take a birding walk around the property or go on a visit to the Nagtale Village.

Commence your seven-hour journey to Haridwar this morning, passing breathtaking views of great valleys, small villages, and terraced fields all along on the gradual climb.


The Ganges, India’s holiest river, descends from the Himalayas and begins its journey through the plains at Haridwar. This gives the town a unique status, making a pilgrimage to Haridwar every devout Hindu’s dream. Bereft of ancient monuments, Haridwar’s most famous sight is the Ganges itself with its numerous bathing ghats, tanks and temples.


Upon arrival at Haridwar, check-in to your accommodations for the night. This evening you have an option of walking through the colorful bazaars leading up to Har Ki Pauri – the famous ghat on the banks of the Ganga.

  • Rishikesh

After breakfast this morning you will commence your journey to Rishikesh. Upon arrival, check-in to your accommodation. Take a short excursion to Rishikesh town in the afternoon.


RISHIKESHAshrams and spiritual centers galore, Rishikesh is considered as one of the holiest destinations in India because of the revered Ganges River that flows through it. The river originates in the upper Himalayas and it is at Rishikesh where it first sets foot on the plains. This was where the Beatles arrived in the sixties seeking Nirvana.


Visit Ashrams in Rishikesh and walk through the narrow streets full of colorful shops selling souvenirs, offerings to holy Ganges, street foods, sweets etc.

Today will be a full day excursion involving Mountain Biking on dirt tracks and Kayaking down the Ganges. Post breakfast you will drive about and hour to a certain point. Here you will get on to the Mountain Bikes and go biking on the dirt track for about 14 kilometers.


Then hop on to an inflatable Kayak and go down stream the Ganges exploring the sheer majesty of river and amazing landscapes around.


At dusk witness the grand evening ceremony “Ganga Aarti” at Rishikesh.

Today, you can go White Water River Rafting on the river Ganges, which is undoubtedly the most exciting and thrilling adventure sports in India, or take a birding walk.

This morning you may choose to take a trip to Purkal village near Dehradun and visit the Purkal Youth Development Society engaged in helping children build brighter futures and empowering women through work. Thereafter you will transfer to the Dehradun Railway station for your train to Delhi.


On arrival in Delhi you will be met by a Travel Scope representative and transferred to your accommodations. A car and driver will be at your disposal for the remainder of the day to accomplish your last minute shopping requirements or to continue exploring the city. A room will be reserved at a hotel with close access to the airport for wash and change or overnight.

Early this morning you will be transferred to the International Airport. A Travel Scope Representative will assist you with check-in formalities at the airport for homebound flight.
