Tiruchirapalli
A temple town located on a river delta
Located at the fork of a river delta, the town of Tiruchirappalli or Trichy, records a legacy of dynasties and empires since the 3rd Century BC. The temples bear witness to faith and beliefs of the past, providing an anchor to pilgrims over the years – notably, the Ranganathaswamy, the Rockfort and the Jambukeswar temples. The city is an important educational and industrial hub in the state of Tamil Nadu today.
