With the sacred river Ganga flowing past, numerous temples ringing out their rituals across the forested valley, has led to a scattering of ashrams and yoga schools. Today, beyond spirituality, Rishikesh is also a hub for backpackers – who wish to embark upon treks further up into the Himalayas, and for adventure seekers, who can get their thrills off river rafting and bungy jumping.
