Gokarna
A west coast beach of temples & wellness retreats
A small town on the coast of Karnataka, Gokarna literally means ‘cow’s ear’ – and legend claims that Lord Shiva was born from a cow’s ear here, at the confluence of two rivers. Over a decade ago, only devout Hindus made their way to Gokarna’s temples, as the town is an important pilgrimage spot yet since, the pristine beaches have attracted a lot of foreigners looking for quieter seaside holidays away from Goa. Gokarna’s ancient temples, wellness retreats and surfing activities have made it a popular destination.
