• Pushkar The Heart of Rajasthan

Legend claims that Pushkar was the site where a lotus fell, thus its name meaning ‘blue lotus blossom’, and the lake was created with Lord Shiva’s tears as he grieved over the loss of his consort, Sati. An important Hindu pilgrimage town, Pushkar is known for its lakeside ghats, remarkable temples and vibrant colourful bazaars. The desolate desertscape bursts into chaotic festivity during the annual camel festival, where people in traditional attire, gaudily decorated cattle take the centrestage, and the haunting desert music plays on late into the night.
